Hi, I’m LaDonna Franklin, Founder and CEO of Essentials 4U.

My passion for hair care began long before I realized it would become part of my purpose. As a little girl, I braided hair for children in my neighborhood to earn extra skating money. Looking back, I was already discovering a gift for helping others feel confident and cared for.

More Than Hair

As I grew older, I realized that hair care is about much more than appearance. For me, sitting in a stylist’s chair was an experience rooted in trust, connection, and self-expression.

I was drawn to stylists who understood textured hair, created a welcoming atmosphere, and helped me feel confident and beautiful.

Over time, I came to appreciate that the right products and intentional care can do more than support healthy hair. They can help you feel restored, empowered, and more like yourself.

That understanding became one of the inspirations behind Essentials 4U.

My Natural Hair Journey

More than 15 years ago, I began my natural hair journey. I spent years learning about ingredients, testing products, and discovering what truly supported healthy hair and scalp care.

In 2021, I started my loc journey. This experience deepened my appreciation for simplicity, intentional care, and products made with clean, nourishing ingredients.

My father recognized my creativity and encouraged me to become a cosmetologist. While I chose a different path, his encouragement stayed with me and inspired me to create something meaningful.

The Birth of Essentials 4U

After years of searching, I still struggled to find products that felt truly natural, effective, and thoughtfully made for textured hair, locs, and scalp health.

What began as a personal solution became Essentials 4U, a brand rooted in lived experience, intentional ingredients, and a genuine desire to support healthy hair and confident self-care.
